Let's go Samurais and Ninjas! (Brave 10 anime review)

The story reimagines the legendary adventures of the 10 brave warriors assembled by the warlord Sanada Yukimura in the year 1600, in the middle of Japan's tumultuous Sengoku (Warring States) era.

The anime starts off with a guy named Saizou sleeping on the ground inside a forest. Suddenly he kind of warps towards an opening among the trees and sees a girl. Upon seeing the girl Saizou is suddenly attacked by a group of ninjas. Unexpectedly, he is able to ward them all away with a swing of his sword. The girl then introduces herself as Isanami. Apparently, she’s a holy priestess on the run. Isanami begs Saizou to protect her and Saizou immediately refuses stating that it’s none of his business. After persistently annoying Saizou, Isanami ends up making him agree to accompany her to Ueda in exchange for soba (Japanese noodles) and that’s where it all begins.

Usually, it takes me two episodes of an anime to get me going but for Brave 10. It only took one. That’s amazing, really. Although I don’t know what makes it special. I mean the story’s kindaaaa niiice… but it reminds me a whole lot of Hakuouki: Shinsengumi Kitan. It has this sengoku era feel to it. There are a lot of samurais, ninjas and eye candies. Haha! The art is kinda iffy for me because although the guys are pretty cool, the art also makes some of the girls look too masculine…? Kind of close to being a man already with boobs. The animation of the anime is exceptional, especially the battle scenes. It’s very fluid and clear. By clear I mean that the anime doesn’t have this choppy feel to it whenever it shows battle scenes. The battle scenes are absolutely lovely. I think, aside from the eye candy bishounens (pretty boys) in the anime, I watch this show just for its animation. Haha!

If you guys are a fan of samurais, ninjas, traditional Japanese culture, epic battle scenes and pretty boys then you should try this anime out!

Here’s a PV as usual to get you guys goiiiing. :D
